Who we are
Warrior Redemption Foundation
It all started with the Brawlers Ball Scholarship Fund, which presented MMA gym scholarships to Hampton Roads youth in need during the Brawlers Ball MMA shows.
The supportive response from the MMA community was resounding, especially from the retired fighters that we featured during the shows - these fighters also brought to our attention some of the issues they face after their careers come to an end. After spending their best years entertaining us MMA enthusiasts and keeping the sport alive, they are often left with very little support after retiring - medical bills pile up just as the income goes dry. We saw a need and knew we needed to find a way to organize and expand our impact in the MMA community for all generations - starting with our youth and our retired fighters, who need support the most.
This is what inspired us to form the Warriors Redemption Foundation; to share the benefits of learning our beloved sport with the next generation and to honor the legends that came in the generations before them. Learning MMA will create the positive momentum a young person may need to get through any struggle in life - it is an art which requires discipline of the mind and body. We’ve experienced it in our own lives and seen it in others as members of the MMA community, the positive effect on the rest of one's life is simply invaluable. For our fighters, we intend to raise awareness about the issues they face and do our best to help resolve them, whether that be through debt relief, setting them up with physical or mental therapists free of charge, or simply coming together with them as a community and giving them a platform to tell their story. They spent their lives keeping this great sport alive and entertaining us all - now we intend to repay them with the love and support they have earned.
For both our retirees and our youth, this will create a community of people who care for them, listen to their problems, can relate and try to help. This is bigger than WRF, it’s about people coming together and caring for one another. We plan to expand across many areas of philanthropy; we intend to spread love and create opportunities and community in any way we can, as MMA fighters and enthusiasts, this is the best way for us to start. We invite you to join us on our journey to spread something wonderful in our community and in our world by following, interacting and donating with us.
